A book Rabbi Lisa contributed to, A Life of Meaning: Embracing Reform Judaism’s Sacred Path, is now available for pre-orders. Rabbi Lisa wrote a whole chapter in this book. This volume offers readers a thought-provoking collection of essays by rabbis, cantors, and other scholars who differ, sometimes passionately, over religious practice, experience, and belief. Its goal is to situate Judaism in a contemporary context, and it is uniquely suited for community discussion, as well as study groups. The book will be published by December 2017.

Rabbi Lisa’s chapter is about life cycle rituals: Tradition! Transition! How Reform Jews Ritualize Life Transitions. Whether the change is within — becoming a parent or spouse or Jew or different gender — or less internal — welcoming another’s new baby into the world or helping bring another’s life to a close (a body laid to rest, a life tenderly remembered) – ritual during significant life moments can bring participants closer to each other and to their sense of a presence of God.
