This week, we're highlighting Gee Rabe!
L.A.’s Accordion Diva, “Gee” Rabe is an award-winning accordionist, steel drum player, bandleader, composer, arranger, and lecturer whose career spans more than four decades. Trained in performance and ethnomusicology, she performs across a wide range of global styles, including klezmer, forró, tango, Americana, and Caribbean music. Most recently, “Gee” performed with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra for Danny Elfman’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, including as part of a featured trio backing violinist Sandy Cameron. She has also performed with Mostly Kosher at Disney California Adventures and has appeared as a guest artist with Josh Groban for a PBS special. Her work has appeared on numerous recordings, film soundtracks, and television productions, including movies for the Hallmark Channel, Friends, and Fargo. She teaches music at California State University, Northridge, where she founded one of the West Coast’s few university steel band programs in 1995.
